GREEN INITIATIVE BY NSS VOLUNTEERS

On 31st July 2025, in view of the Environmental Day celebrations, the NSS unit of St. Charles Women’s PU College organized a Green Drive to promote ecological awareness and responsibility. A total of 50 enthusiastic NSS volunteers actively took part in this initiative, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable living. The drive focused on planting saplings within the campus and in the surrounding areas, spreading the message of “Go Green” and the importance of preserving nature for future generations. Along with plantation, the volunteers also engaged in cleaning the premises, creating awareness among peers, and encouraging eco-friendly practices such as reducing plastic use, saving water, and proper waste segregation. This initiative echoed the vision of NSS — “Not Me, But You” — by extending concern beyond the self to the wellbeing of the community and the environment. The students’ wholehearted participation reflected their sense of responsibility as young citizens towards protecting Mother Earth.The Green Drive not only beautified the surroundings but also served as a learning experience, instilling in the volunteers values of sustainability, teamwork, and care for the environment. The efforts of the NSS unit were appreciated by the college community, highlighting the importance of small steps in creating a greener and healthier world. The contribution of these 50 NSS volunteers stands as a remarkable example of youth engagement in environmental stewardship and will surely inspire many others to embrace eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
