HAIR DONATION CAMPAIGN

Introduction: The NSS Unit of St. Charles Women’s PU College, in collaboration with the Hair India Organization, successfully conducted a Hair Donation Campaign on 2nd July with the objective of supporting cancer patients and spreading awareness about the importance of hair donation.

Aim of the Campaign:
·To promote social responsibility and compassion among students.
·To raise awareness about hair loss faced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
·To encourage voluntary hair donation for the creation of wigs for cancer survivors.
·To support the psychological well-being and self-esteem of patients through the donation of natural hair wigs.

Objectives:
·To educate students about the impact of cancer treatment on patients’ physical appearance and mental health.
·To provide an opportunity for students to contribute meaningfully to society.
·To build a sense of empathy and community service among youth.
To collaborate with reputed organizations like Hair India that specialize in transforming donated hair into wigs for cancer patients.

Event Highlights: The event began with a brief orientation by representatives from Hair India Organization, who shared touching stories of cancer survivors and the significance of hair donation.The Principal and NSS Program Officer addressed the gathering, encouraging students to take part in meaningful social initiatives. 20 students from the college voluntarily came forward and donated their hair, each meeting the required length and hygiene standards. Certificates of appreciation were distributed to all the donors as a token of gratitude. The donated hair was handed over to the representatives of Hair India Organization for wig-making.

Outcome: The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation and created a strong sense of awareness and empathy among the students. It was a proud moment for the institution, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility through NSS activities.

Conclusion: The Hair Donation Campaign was a heartwarming initiative that reflected the true spirit of service and compassion. The NSS Unit of St. Charles Women’s PU College extends sincere thanks to the Hair India Organization for their support and looks forward to organizing more.
