National Cancer Awareness Day is observed every year on November 7 to spread awareness about the prevention, early detection, and treatment of cancer. The NSS Unit of St. Charles Women’s PU College organized an enlightening awareness program on this day to educate students about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and recognizing early warning signs of cancer. The program began with a short inaugural ceremony, invoking the blessings of the Almighty.
Following the inauguration, a guest talk was delivered by Sr.Elizabeth Leo, who spoke on the topic and preventive measures of cancer. They encouraged young students to adopt healthy habits—such as avoiding junk food, refraining from tobacco, ensuring regular exercise, and undergoing periodic health check-up.The talk was followed by an interactive session, during which students raised queries about myths and misconceptions related to cancer.
To reinforce the message, NSS volunteers presented pluck cards, skits highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and emotional support for cancer patients. The performance left a deep impact on the audience, drawing attention to empathy and social responsibility.
Students displayed creativity through informative and inspiring posters, which were later exhibited in the college corridor to spread the message among all students.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by NSS Programme Officer, Mrs.Medona, expressing gratitude to the management, and volunteers for their active participation.
Overall, the celebration of National Cancer Awareness Day was informative, thought-provoking, and socially impactful, instilling a sense of responsibility among students to spread awareness and support those affected by cancer
