ORGANIC SOAP-MAKING WORKSHOP

The NSS Unit of St. Charles Women’s PU College, Bangalore, in collaboration with the Chemistry Department, organised a One-Day Organic Soap-Making Workshop on 17th September 2026 in the Chemistry Lab

The programme was conducted with the valuable guidance and support of Mrs. Vijayalakshmi and Ms. Bhishnu from the Chemistry Department, along with Mrs. Mary Medona, NSS Coordinator , who contributed to the successful organisation and execution of the activity. The workshop provided students with an opportunity to explore the preparation of organic soaps using natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera, Neem, Rose Petals and Shankhapushpa. Students were introduced to the practical aspects of soap-making while learning about the importance of natural, eco-friendly and sustainable products. The activity also encouraged students to develop creativity, practical skills and entrepreneurial thinking, demonstrating how natural resources can be transformed into useful and attractive products.

Visit by Nirmala School Primary Students

A special highlight of the workshop was the visit of primary school students from Nirmala School. The young learners visited the Chemistry Lab and enthusiastically observed the organic soap-making process.

Their visit provided them with an engaging hands-on learning experience, allowing them to see how natural ingredients can be used to create organic products. Their curiosity and enthusiasm added joy and energy to the programme

The workshop was a meaningful collaboration between the NSS Unit and Chemistry Department, combining practical learning, environmental awareness, creativity and entrepreneurship. The guidance and support of the faculty members helped make the programme informative, engaging and successful.
