In response to the escalating violence in Manipur, the student Council
of St. Charles PU College for Women took the initiative to organize a
Peace March aimed at promoting harmony, justice, and an end to the
prevailing unrest in the region.
The Peace March mainly sought to advocate peace and justice to the
victims. The students marched in silence with placards banners and
posters which was led by the DCPL Ms.Sushmitha Sharon and ACPL
Ms.Arbiya who carried lighted candles in a symbolic manner to show
'Let peace prevail'.
The students marched from the ground to the auditorium and special
prayer was conducted in the auditorium as well. The Peace March
conducted by students in response to the Manipur violence served as a
powerful testament to the collective will for peace and harmony in the
region. The participants' determination to bring about positive change
and their commitment to non-violence were inspiring and shed light on
the potential for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
The students of St. Charles responded to the violence at Manipur
through a 3 day fundraiser, which amounted to Rs.55k and was handed
over to the Principal.This amount was used to buy groceries and daily
essentials for the refugees at The Paalaana Bhavana, Archdiocese of
Bangalore. Sr. Wilma,The Provincial of Sisters of Borromeo
Sr. Nancy,Principal of St. Charles Women's PU College accompanied by
Mrs. Lyta (Lecturer in Kannada) and Ms. Bhargavi(Lecturer in
Hindi)
along with the student representatives
went to the Paalana Bhavana
to hand over the groceries to the refugees.
